So Many Lessons

It's been far too long sine my last entry.  I make no apology.  The past two years have been quite a journey on so many levels. My work, my passions, my whole perception of life has changed.  I'm not as fixated on the ToDo list and I take much more attention now to the things I love to do.  I've found, since my bout with health, that life means something much more than a schedule.

That ToDo list will be there tomorrow.  The opportunities you see around you today, may not be.

Gratitude and the Beginning of Your Life

Creating the life you want by using your passion

By acknowledging the life you now have and being grateful for the things and people in it, you begin the creative process that will sculpt your life from here on out.  Once you realize that gratitude brings you even more to be grateful for, then the rest is gravy.

By taking your life and examining it, you begin to see that there generally is more to feel grateful for than to whine about.  Yes, some people may think that the negative forces in their lives far outweigh any positives, but when we really examine the list of what we have to be grateful for, we see that it’s far more than possessions and wealth that evokes gratitude in us.

For example, by being able to read this article, logic tells me you have access to the internet (1), that you have the intelligence to read it (2), that you have eyesight to see these words (3) and that you have the ability to run a computer (4).  This doesn’t even take into account the roof that’s keeping you dry or shaded right now, the lights and electricity that help you see and read this, the clothing you wear to cover your body and the dinner in your belly. It doesn’t include the beverage beside you, the people around you who love you, the support you get despite your shortcomings, and so forth.

As you can see, our gratitude lists can be so much longer when we truly examine what we actually have in our lives.  The current atmosphere in our culture has us looking beyond much of what we should examine with our grateful eyes.  It has us bypass these important additions to our life, focusing us on the latest this or the coolest that.  Today our attention gets drawn away from what’s really important, trying to keep up with the Joneses.

Much of what we consider “necessities”,  many in the world see as luxury.  Automatic washers and dryers free up so much of our time.  Many women still beat their garments on rocks, unaware that there is a machine that does it all for you.  Much of the world walks, rides a bicycle or live animal.  Cars are a luxury, any way you look at it.  Yes, people move to places where public transportation doesn’t exist, so a car is considered a necessity.  However, it is a luxurious necessity, one that can be used for all facets of our busy lives.

Imagine not being able to go to a tap and have clean running water?  Or flush a toilet.  Or a television or phone.  These things are modern conveniences and we shouldn’t be taking them for granted.

Our list of gratitudes must of course begin with the people who love us and support us.  You might not even be aware of how many people send you good wishes, but they are there.  If you’ve ever had to be in hospital for an unplanned visit, you’ll see how many well-wishers you have around you.

Embrace your gratitude.  Don’t see it as something you must work at, hate or treat as a chore.  If you don’t actually FEEL it, there’s no real sense in doing it.  It becomes a by-rote exercise that way.  You need to feel the thankfulness that your life brings you.  You need to embrace the feelings of gratitude, once you’ve really got a realistic look at the bounty in your life.

No matter our budget, no matter our neighborhood, no matter our economic status, there is always something in our lives to be grateful for.

Once you start to find the genuine gratitude that is at the core of who you are, you begin to master your life….you begin to take control.  Once you realize that your life is full of reasons to smile, you begin to smile.  When you smile, you push the negative away.  And when you do that…when you push the negative thoughts away, your life begins to change.  You begin to attract more and more that makes you smile.

Give it a try.  Be grateful.  It makes each day better.

Bucurie!

Escape to Reality

What is it about reality shows and home videos that entertain us to such an extent? I can answer the one about the home videos. It can make me laugh quite hard to see others get clumsy, fall down, get hurt and in general, be human. That's the crux....we love to know we're not alone looking ungainly and stupid.

With reality shows, my theory is once again, we want to know we're not alone in our fallibility and mediocrity. Which is the best part of American Idol? ... why the beginnings of the seasons, of course! Once they eliminate so many that each has a great voice, then it's no fun anymore. Then we may watch for a different reason. The beginnings are so much more entertaining. Some people use shows like Idol, to upgrade their reps from freak to weirdo. They go from unknown goober, to a face that people remember for that renowned fifteen minutes.

Whatever the reasons we're so drawn to peeking into other people's lives and circumstances, it makes for some amazingly popular television. The ratings and numbers on these types of shows are mind boggling.

Three toasted marshmallows raised to those reality shows that keep us thinking...about just how real life can be. We set tevos for them, we rush home for them, we talk about them on our lunch breaks. We get caught up in the lives and paths of contestants, directing our own versions of how the plot should go.

It's as though we've come up with the extreme opposite of the Victorian era where certain subjects were never broached in polite company. It seems now that anything is dup for discussion, all thanks to reality shows and films.

Some of them I watch and some I don't. I've rarely stayed for a whole season or series. I lose interest. But I know some people who plan their schedules around the show times of these series. They cheer, hiss, argue with and throw things at the people who participate. The fan base for reality TV shows is getting larger by the day. If you can dream up a new slant on the same old circumstance, then you'll be rich. It's here to stay for a while. People need escape and peeking into the real lives of others gives them that.

A Subtle Shift

Since the change of the new year, psychic energy in the world has experienced a subtle shift. It has increased in frequency, a positive change. 2006 saw so much sludge and mud in the world, religiously, politically, economically, etc.

It seems the winds of change may have blown a healing breeze through the world, allowing us to take a breather and really count our blessings.

I hope the new year finds you well and happy. Stay positive,

Bucurie!

Find Your Bliss Today

Autumn hangs deliciously in the air today. I put my sweater on to greet the morning, while my dog had other ideas on his mind. I drea in deep cleansing breaths and knew taht the change of season had fully come upon me.

My heart fills with the power of all that is autumn, Samhain; even that ever-commercial holiday Halloween. I love this time of year because all the psychic feelings become stronger, the interaction with that of other places is so much clearer. My mind is open to so much more. It's like the summer siestas are done and my darker world of winter opens up to me. More writing, more magical work, more baking and cooking.

Lovely.

Find your bliss today,
Emgy

Great Article on Destiny
Destiny and Tarot

Although people are familiar with the fact that nobody can escape from being responsible for his or her actions, hundreds of beliefs, philosophies, theories and speculation have over the centuries attempted to answer the question "Is our life's course predetermined or are we responsible for our destiny?" No matter which view you support, it is important to realize that the two extremes, idealism versus materialism, and all the theories in-between them, deal with our greatest fear: our future self.

An Interesting Letter - Prosperity
Prosperity Spell Success

Dear Em,

I tried to do a prosperity spell two days ago and I’ve received three bills in the mail since, that I wasn’t expecting. I guess the spell didn’t work. Any suggestions?

Lucy in Detroit

Hi Lucy,

Sounds like you’re letting the power of your defeatist thought get in the way of visualizing your success. Instead of concentrating on how it’s not going to work or how there are more bills, just keep a picture clearly in your mind of what you want your spell to achieve. Don’t forget, ninety percent of spellwork is the intent. Hang in there and don’t think negative thoughts.

This Autumn Season

This time of the year awakens in me a stronger awareness. I feel more presence, more energy, stronger thoughts and clearer visions. Autumn energies me. The veil is thinning and we're approaching the long dark days of winter when we can go inward and experience another learning cycle.

After a summer of joy, but unfortunately mixed with medical emergencies, I'm healing and feeling like a new woman. Nothing like a brush with death to open the third eye and put you in touch.

I'll write about the experience, when I become comfortable with the idea of sharing. Until then, trust me, it's been a very odd year.

Bucurie!

Talking Board update - I'll be revisiting that project over the winter. Stay in touch. I'll post pics when it's done.

A Lovely May Day!

"Traditional English May Day rites and celebrations include Morris dancing, crowning a May Queen, celebrating Green Man day and dancing around a Maypole. Much of this tradition derives from the pagan festival of Beltane. May Day has been a traditional day of festivities throughout the centuries. It is most associated with towns and villages celebrating springtime fertility and revelry with fetes and community gatherings. Perhaps the most significant of the traditions is the May Pole, around which traditional dancers circle with ribbons." Wikipedia

Last night's Beltane weather was beautiful, with the clearest skies and air that felt good in my lungs. What an incredible year this is turning out to be.

Celebrate this time of the year by counting your blessings and by knowing that you are growing and becoming more "you" every day.

Seeing Signs in the Smoke

There are many ways to skry, or tug the psychic threads. Many ways to awaken a particular focus or clarify a strong "hunch". One very pleasant way is to use smoke, provided you can find an incense or source of smoke that doesn't leave you feeling like you've just run through a five alarm fire. Smoke inhalation isn't pretty.

When a message wants receiving, a spirit wants to speak, we must listen. It is our responsibility to listen, at least long enough to acknowledge the request. No one likes to be ignored. Beings of spirit are no different.

One day last week I found myself wanting to pick up pen and paper, but finding I had no time. Finally, as I was stirring something on the stove, the wooden spoon I held began to form letters. It took me a moment, but finally I realize what was happening and let the letters flow. Not a long message, but significant.

"At the end of the day, realize that being in a physical body forces us to confront your image in the mirror. Don't turn away. Drink it in, like an expensive treat you've bought yourself."

There are times when the shorter the message, the better it comes out.

Talking Board update - the sun and moon are done, along with some really cool numbers. We'll see, but it looks like it could be really wonderful despite a first effort.

The Wheel of Fortune - A great analogy

I found this quote at www.tarot.com and thought it presented a really good visual for the WOF

"The immediate future seems uncertain, so who can fault you for feeling a bit overwhelmed or confused. Do not take it personally -- a force may be present that is beyond your power to manipulate. Think of this energy as the great washing machine of life. If you put up with the churning, the rinse cycle and the final tumble, then everything will be resolved when it's over. Still, it is a challenge to keep your composure. The part of you that prefers control feels helpless. What an uncomfortable feeling, not knowing when or where the wheel is going to stop. Wait and watch, and as you do, try to absorb and understand the process."

Of Tarot Cards and the Law of Return

I've been looking at the Gothic Tarot and they really speak to me. The images are incredible for certain moods I get in. I'd love to try them. Time for some manifestation ;)

On another note, the mood in my area of the country lately is one of near complete exhaustion, much dehydration and more than a little stress. I can feel it in nearly all the readings I do and I wonder where it's originating from. I have a strong sense that much of it comes up in waves from the torn areas of Katrina's wrath. The rest, life in the US in general these days. Not so much great news and stiffupperlip deal. Hard to for most people when they don't practice any kind of Law of Return.

Psychic Moments

Why does it seem like some people go to psychics just to 'test' them?

It's as though they deliberately waste their reading time, wanting answers about stuff they already have the answers about. Why? Why not spend your reading time on the things you really want to know about? That would be much more productive in the long run.

Psychics haven't got all the answers. If one tells you she/he does, they're lying. No one person can completely set your life to rights.

For instance, one of my clients "K", was having a great deal of trouble with a roommate. She and I talked, I did a reading and told her her living conditions were going to change for the better. They did...just this week. She found a new and better place and to top it off, she's going to be saving nearly 600.00 dollars a month!

We don't have all the answers. All we can do is give you more options. To clarify some of the existing ones and to nudge you on your way.

Mirror Issues

I've been having recourse with mirrors lately. Everywhere I turn I see something about mirrors. Not necessarily the mirrors themselves, but reference to them.

It's fabulous, yet at the same time, cleansing.

Seems some spirits don't like mirrors. Matter of fact, I was brushing my hair at the reading room the other day and the mirror dropped off the wall and shattered.

I don't believe in bad luck. Someone was trying to get through.

Even the hook on the wall was unmoved, unbent, etc.

I love when things like this happen.
I'll keep you posted on further manifestations at the shop.

Restless Spirits

I'm not sure if it's the devastation left behind in the wake of Katrina and Co. or if it's the time of year. Perhaps a combination of both.

It seems that peoples' souls are in an uproar. It feels like we as humans are having a hard time with the concept of rest. So much is anxiety and stress. So much is tension and negative emotion. There are forces at work right now that seem to feed some underground stream from which humankind is drinking. Negativity and intolerance seem to rear their ugly heads regularly. People need to remember that we always get back in kind. Whatever it is we're sending out to the universe, it will and has to respond. Always.

Breathe. Let it go. Life is far too interesting and short to be wasting time on feeling negative.

~~~
Today I drew the Knight of Coins.
"Even when circumstances are not particularly interesting, be illing to apply your expertise and talents as they are needed. The card that lands in the Situation position refers to social or circumstantial factors which could be affecting your life at this time. When the Knight of Coins (in some decks, The Prince) is in this position, it is time to get to work. Even though the tasks at hand may be less than glamorous, your skills, good sense and preparation are being called for now. You are an experienced and handy person who is greatly needed. Your skill and patient service could save the day."
